THANJAVUR: RK Nagar legislator T T V Dhinakaran on Tuesday said he is ready for the merger of the two factions of the AIADMK — the faction led by him and the one led by chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam — if the ruling faction drops six ministers from the cabinet and if one of the 18 disqualified MLAs in his faction is made the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters in Kathiramangalam village in Thanjavur, Dhinakaran made it clear that he did not wish to become the chief minister.

He left it to the reporters’ guessing when he was asked to name the six ministers whom he wanted to be dropped from the cabinet.

Earlier, Dhinakaran met people in Kathiramangalam who were protesting against ONGC. The farmers in Kathiramangalam have been protesting against extraction of natural oil and gas from fertile lands by ONGC.

Dhinakaran conveyed his support to the farmers and said the ONGC should wind up its operation in the village immediately.

“Once we come to power, the entire delta region would be announced as a protected agriculture zone. Various cases registered against farmers by police for protesting against ONGC would be withdrawn,” he said.
