KOLKATA: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) notified on Monday that it had reduced the score threshold to pass the Class X and XII boards.

The pass marks for Class X students will be reduced from 35 to 33, and for Class XII from 40 to 35 from the academic session that starts in 2019. Over 2,100 schools in India and abroad are affiliated to the CISCE.

“This has been done to bring parity between students of various boards,” Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate secretary Nabarun De said. Under CBSE, the largest national board, 33 marks serve as the threshold to clear both the Class X and the Class XII boards.
