NEW DELHI: Even as civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapati Raju on Wednesday summoned the parties involved in the incident of
manhandling of a passenger by IndiGo groundstaff+
, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said ‘arrogant behaviour has become a norm for IndiGo’.

The manhandling incident, which occurred on October 15, came to light after a video was released yesterday of the tussle, filmed by an employee of IndiGo.
This is not the first time the airline is in the news for its rude behaviour towards passengers. On November 4,
badminton player PV Sindhu+
took to social media to allege that one of the airline’s staff had misbehaved with her.
In the video released yesterday, IndiGo’s groundstaff can be seen holding the passenger down by the throat and dragging him away at Delhi’s international airport.
The BJP’s Hussain said he hears “of rude behaviour instances by Indigo on regular basis” and chastised the airline’s management for the way it dealt with the situation.
He was referring to what IndiGo did after the manhandling incident. Instead of acting against the employees who thrashed the passenger, IndiGo sacked the employee who filmed the October 15 incident.
This drama unfolded on October 15 when 6E 487 flew into Delhi from Chennai.
Last month, after alighting from the Airbus A-320 on a Delhi-Chennai Indigo flight, a passenger Rajiv Katiyal got into an argument with some ground staff and allegedly abused them. What sparked this argument has not been ascertained yet. Two or three IndiGo ground staffers then stopped Katyal from boarding the bus which was taking passengers to the terminal. They then manhandled him and dragged him on the tarmac for over a minute.
Earlier this month, badminton star Sindhu tweeted about what happened to her on an Indigo flight.
In a series of tweets, the shuttler alleged that a male employee of the airline “behaved very rudely” with her while handling the cabin luggage.
