In an interview to a Kannada TV news channel, Siddaramaiah said, if dalit CM is appointed without taking legislators into confidence, it will adversely impact governance owing to dissidence.
Asked in the event the party secures majority and wants to appoint a dalit as the CM, Siddaramaiah said: “I’ll tell them do it. I’m not against anybody.” While he left the decision to the high command, the chief minister told reporters that it will be difficult to impose any leader.
“The party will have to take opinion of the legislators and the high command has to agree to it,” Siddaramaiah said adding “I didn’t face any dissidence in my five-year term.”

He ruled out moving to Delhi and said that he will restrict himself to Karnataka politics even as he said the party will win more than 120 segments. “I hope I’ll be the CM again,” he stated.
Speaking to reporters in Chamundeshwari constituency, one of the two seats from where he contested in the high-stakes polls, along with Badami in north Karnataka, the Congress leader said, “This will be my last election.”
Siddaramaiah ruled out contesting any polls in future saying he will not do it even if Brahma tells him to. But he said he will continue his fight against communal forces. “Till my last breath I’ll fight for social justice,” Siddaramaiah said.
Siddaramaiah had on Saturday claimed the Congress will win over 120 seats in the assembly elections and he will once again hold the top post. On the question of who will be the chief minister, Siddaramaiah had said, “The party has already decided to hold the election under my leadership. What does it indicate? I will be the next the Chief Minister.” When asked what will be the Congress’ stand in case of a hung assembly, a confident looking Siddaramaiah said that situation won’t arise at all.
Polling in the southern state was held yesterday and the results will be declared on Tuesday.
