NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki on Thursday launched the much-awaited new Swift at the Auto Expo 2018. The new variant comes at a starting price Rs 5 lakh. Earlier in the day, ahead of the official announcement, TOI had correctly reported about the price through exclusive sources.

The new Swift is available in 12 variants and six colour options.

Bookings for the third-generation Swift opened in January and there is already a 6-8 week waiting period for the car –not uncommon for cars coming out of India’s largest carmaker’s stable.

The car is available in both petrol and diesel variants along with automatic transmission options. The engines remain unchanged, the 1.2-litre K-series petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel are still at the heart of the new Swift. The Swift first arrived in India in 2005 and has till date managed to sell a whopping 17 lakh units of the car.
