“RSS is a force working to divide the people. It wants to drive a wedge in the OBC community,” Rahul said while addressing the ‘OBC Sammelan’ in the national capital.
He spoke of a fear psychosis debilitating people’s free speech, and alleged that BJP lawmakers were too scared to voice their opinion if it was negative of the RSS or Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Today, our nation has become a slave of 2-3 BJP leaders and RSS… Everyone including MPs is afraid to speak. Most them are not allowed to speak. And those of us who do speak, the BJP does not listen to. Only RSS is given a hearing,” he said.
The Gandhi scion also pointed to a glaring discrepancy between “work and reward” in the country, claiming that those who labour the most rarely get the benefits they deserve.
“Those who do the real work in India, they’re confined to the back rooms. The profit of their work is enjoyed by someone else. India doesn’t reward the person who has the skills, who works hard,” said Rahul.
Taking a swipe at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul said Modi only favours businessmen and has no clear policy on alleviating the farmers’ suffering. He added that the BJP-led NDA regime has ignored the interests of farmers but helped a small group of industrialists by waiving loans amounting to nearly Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
“You will never see a farmer in Narendra Modi’s office. Under Modi government, farmers don’t get their due. They keep committing suicide but their loans are not waived,” he charged.
Further elaborating on the gulf in society created by the lack of opportunities available to the country’s youth, Rahul resorted to an interesting analogy: “Owner of Coca Cola sold ‘shikanji’ in America. The owner of McDonalds used to run a ‘dhaba’. The founder of Ford Motors was a mechanic. But have you seen a mechanic become the founder of an automobile company in India?”

He also challenged the stand of the government that India lacks skills saying it was not true and the authorities have failed to recognise the fact.
“PM Modi says there is a dearth of skill in the country. This is a lie. Their is no lack of skills among the OBCs. They are full of potential,” said Rahul.
