NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) today allowed the Delhi government to implementation the odd-even car rationing scheme from November 13 to 17 with very people exempt this time around.

So, unlike the last time the scheme was implemented, two-wheelers, government servants and women will also have to follow the car rationing scheme.

Just yesterday, the NGT had rapped the Delhi government on its knuckles for deciding to implement the scheme. It asked the Delhi government why it has not introduced the odd-even car rationing scheme earlier in the week, when the air quality was much worse.

The NGT also wondered why so many would be exempt from the odd-even rule. It asked how the Delhi government expected to improve air quality if so many didn’t have to follow the car rationing rule.

The environmental protection agency announced its decision at a special meeting it had called today to determine whether the scheme will help reduce the near deadly levels of smog in Delhi and in the National Capital Region (NCT).
