NEW DELHI: In a startling new development in the Pradhyuman Thakur murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday apprehended a Class XI student of Gurugram’s Ryan International School for the killing. * Seven-year-old Pradhyumn was found murdered in the school’s bathroom on September 8.

* Within hours of the murder, bus conductor Ashok Kumar confessed to murdering the boy during questioning by the Gurugram police. He was then sent to judicial custody.

* Kumar said he was attempting to sexually abuse Pradhyumn and added that he killed him for resisting.

* Gurugram police informed the court that the crime scene has been tampered with and that they suspect the involvement of a third person.

* On September 9, acting principal of the school, Neerja Batra, was suspended.

* On September 22, the CBI took over the investigation of the case following the recommendation of Haryana government.

* On October 7, the CBI alleged that Ryan Augustine Pinto, chief executive officer of Ryan International Group of Institutions, could be a part of the conspiracy to murder.
