NEW DELHI: Delhi’s well-known Akbar Road was, for a short while, ‘renamed’ Maharana Pratap Road today.

A poster with ‘Maharana Pratap Road’ written on it was pasted overnight on the signboard for Akbar Road, named after Mughal emperor Akbar.

Akbar Road is home to several senior politicians such as Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Uma Bharti and Suresh Prabhu. It also houses the headquarters of the Congress party.

The poster was removed by the police today. The miscreants responsible for defacing the signboard have not yet been identified.

May 9, incidentally, happens to be the birth anniversary of Rajput king Maharana Pratap.

In 2015, the national capital’s Aurangzeb Road in the heart of the Lutyens bungalow zone was renamed A P J Abdul Kalam Road after the late former President by the New Delhi Municipal Corporation.
